We are aware of an escalating situation at the Doherty Park having to do with dogs being around children playing on the playground. We encourage all to exercise good judgment and responsible ownership when it comes to children and their play areas.
CharlestownDogs reminds owners that children should be able to play in playgrounds without fear of off leash dogs approaching them or relieving themselves on or around their equipment, and that it is the ...owners’ responsibility to prevent this from happening. Please observe these common sense practices at the Doherty playground and the other children’s play areas in the neighborhood. We are all feeling the pressure due to the absence of dog parks in our Town and the increase of patrols, but we believe keeping dogs away from children’s areas is a practice that should be observed regardless of other circumstances. Irresponsible behavior by owners will only serve to make our fight to get desperately needed dog parks in our town more difficult.
Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage responsible behavior from others. We thank you for your support!
